Reclaim is a fashion magazine embracing sustainability at its core. It aims to inspire audiences with an interest in fashion and those that care for the planet in order to encourage change in the fashion industry.

The project
The fashion industry makes up nearly 10% of global greenhouse emissions so my magazine focuses on spreading information on how the industry can act more consciously and reduce this statistic through slower and more sustainable fashion. I designed the front covers of three issues alongside a section of the inside pages for the first issue. The magazine aims to spread positive articles and reading to promote sustainable, slow fashion. Reclaim brings a personal, hand-made and natural feel to fashion.

The fashion industry makes up nearly 10% of global greenhouse emissions so my magazine focuses on spreading information on how the industry can act more consciously and reduce this statistic through slower and more sustainable fashion. I designed the front covers of three issues alongside a section of the inside pages for the first issue. The magazine aims to spread positive articles and reading to promote sustainable, slow fashion. Reclaim brings a personal, hand-made and natural feel to fashion.
This project started out with sketches and typeface experimentation. After understanding the topic of my magazine, sustainable fashion, I wanted to give the brand a personal, handmade feel so was experimenting with a hand-drawn masthead and then moving further to hand-stitching it. This is because it gives it this hand-craft feel and promoting this into the fashion industry. I explored many different typefaces and after experimentation, combination and layout testing, Artigo and Gitan were decided on for the final typefaces. This is because they have unique letter shapes which reflect the imperfections seen in the hand-stitched masthead, giving the magazine a consistent and cohesive brand.

The final covers have a zoom in of fabric to show the details of a worn garment because this reflects the slowing down of fashion and engaging with the craft and materials of clothing which is the core of sustainable fashion. The inside pages of the cover reveal the garment in its full, creating an editorial journey for the reader. Whilst also showing the exposed spine which is created to connect to the masthead and reflect the crafting of sustainable fashion.
